Thanks \n— \nThe first F5J World Championship will be in August 2019 in Slovakia. We will conduct a team selection competition this year to select the best pilots to form Team Canada. \nProspective national team members will compete for senior and junior positions 1\, 2 and 3. Each team also has the option of taking an alternate pilot to the World Championships. This alternate pilot would stand in for any team member who is unavailable to compete at the WC. \nEach team selection process will cover two active flying days (Saturday\, Sunday). These days will be consumed as per the contest directors requirements and may (or may not) include 1 or 2 contest days. Weather is the prime factor in determining the event duration. We will strive for 2 day contests. \nThe schedule is as follows : \n\n\n\nFriday August 31st\nPractice and field set up\n\n\nSaturday Sept 1\nCompetition day 1\n\n\nSunday Sept 2\nCompetition day 2\n\n\n\nContest director : Fabien Gagné\nField : COGG near Barrie (Ontario) \nThe competition rules will be mostly as per official FAI rules\, except that there will be no fly-off (all rounds will count)\, and approximately 2/3 of the rounds will be 10-minutes tasks\, followed by 1/3 rounds that will be 15-minutes tasks. This is to expose pilots to a broad contest experience closer to a world championship. \nIf 3 or less pilots register in Senior or Junior class (respectively)\, they will automatically form our national team (and the TS competition may be cancelled). \nRegistrations are open UNTIL MAY 10. \nPilots registering to the TS must commit in going to the World Championship in Slovakia\, in the event they are selected. \nVery little financial support will be available from MAAC and from F5J Canada\, so pilots should be prepared to self-finance most of their expenses and equipment. \nThe registration fee is 25$ (you will be contacted). The Lacolle International ALES is sanctionned by the ALES League. \nNote : Since the F5J Intertour calendar year ends with Trnava (SVK)\, the Lacolle International usually falls as the first contest of the following calendar year\, that’s 2018-19. \nRULES \nF5J will be by the F5J Canada competition rules\, that is allowing emergency motor restarts (which earns 0 points for the round). Weather permitting\, the F5J competition will be run as single 2-day competition with flyoffs. Otherwise\, this leg of the championship will become a single-day F5J without flyoff. \nALES will be by the AMA rules for event 463\, except that altimeters and arrestor devices/skegs will not be permitted. The ALES launch height will be 200m or 150m\, called by the CD one day prior to the competition and will remain fixed throughout the day. Landing is measured against a 5 meters tape for 50 points. \nREGISTRATION is strongly encouraged and limited to 48 tickets.
