Fund Raising Activity – FAI CIAM Meeting

The F5J format is seeing an explosive growth with its official acceptance with the FAI, and its first World Championship next year. The drone races are in a similar situation, they will probably be next in our tracks. We should not be surprised to see Canadians doing well because we are in the leading countries.

But, we have a very unfortunate situation with MAAC, who decided to cut in support of the FAI. MAAC has ferociously downgraded its dues to Aero Club Canada which provides Canada’s membership to the FAI. A few days ago, we learned that they decided to cancel altogether the travel budget of our Canadian representative to the FAI for the annual general meeting of the CIAM (International Aeromodelling Commission).

There are only a few possibilities available to us:
1- we are not going
2- we are not going and give our proxy to the United States
3- we finance the travel of our delegate ourselves

The cost to send our canadian delegate to Lausanne (CH) is estimated to 2500$. A group of stakeholders have already decided to support with their personal funds. The F5J Canada board of directors decided to invest 200$, and to host a fund raising campaing. The association of drones racing will most likely also offer funding. We have already raised over half the target.
